What’s your cultural background?, What’s the music you used to hear at home when you were a kid at home?
we both have a very wide cultural background and we listen to any style of music. It was important for our parents to introduce us to all music genres and sonorities. Today we thank them for that.
What’s been your all time musical preference through life?, give us 3 bands or producer from your life?
If we had to choose we would keep the world music and electronic music, these two genres look so good together ! We love the music of the artists « Dandara » « Bonobo » « Ome » « Monollo Bass » too name a few.
Your artist name is Bamdara. Could you explain us a bit more the story behind your name and how did you guys first meet.
Bamdara means « Monkey » in Bengali. For us it symbolizes the curiosity and the optimism that we want spread in our music.
The exotic side of the monkey represents us too.
Why and how did you start to make music together ?
We first met in a radio show in our city Toulouse. We have a very good friendship and artistic and we thought that our two worlds could be very complementary. So we started make music together maybe two years ago.
Do you have any relation to spirituality?, if so, does this translate to your music?
We don’t have so much relation to spirituality, for us the music is our spirituality.
Is there a hidden meaning in any of your music?
No, we are not trying to give any meaning to our music, only to please our audience and make them discover new sonorities.
Which are your favorite technical tools to create music?
We use Ableton with some world music instruments. Also a ROLAND Juno synth and we record our sonorities too (voices, noises, drums…)
How do you see the current scene in France ? and compared to the rest of the world ?
We have a very active electronic scene in France. And we love the eclectic side ! We hope that is lasts and that the lives show are more and more put forward i the future.
What do you have planned for your future projects?
We plan to make a new live with our originals tracks only, mixing electronic and acoustic instruments. And we are making new originals mixes in a more Indian theme.
Could you give a little description to describe the track you made for the compilation.
In our track « Segunda » we chose the Downtempo style by adding a shamanic dimension. We wanted this song to be deep and hypnotic to bring people into an internal trip.
